One of the hardest experiences for a people-pleaser is discovering that saying no does not always feel like freedom. It can feel like danger. You might set a perfectly reasonable boundary and then spend the next several hours wondering whether you were too harsh. You might express an honest opinion and immediately want to take it back. You might make a decision that is right for you and then feel guilty because someone else doesn't like it.
